Art direction, illustrations, paper craft design and ceramics for an educational workshop based on Louise Bourgeois's sculpture Maman.
In 2022, the SNFCC hosted Louise Bourgeois's enormous sculpture Maman. Children participated in a hands-on educational workshop, exploring the journey of the iconic sculpture around the world. The workshop began with a group discussion based on a large-scale illustrated banner inspired by the artist’s life and work. This introduced participants to her artistic practice and the context in which the sculpture was created.
Then, a world map featuring the museums that have hosted the sculpture was revealed, and children placed ceramic replicas of these museums onto the map to trace the artwork’s international journey. The workshop concluded with a creative activity in which each child assembled parts of the spider to create their own paper sculpture, thus extending the artwork's journey into their own personal museum.
